THE OTHER HALF OF THE STORY

Delicious, handmade shortbread is only half the story.

Our Nottingham bakery provides supportive employment for people facing barriers to work, including homelessness. Bakers are paid the Real Living Wage and have access to in-work support, mentoring and training.

Every 100 biscuits we sell creates one hour of supportive, meaningful work, providing hope, purpose and dignity.

"This job gives me a new start for my life"

E moved to the UK with her family seeking asylum. Back home she had worked in health and safety.

“My life in my country was good because we were workers. But we needed to get out of my country; it was a very difficult decision, but we had to go.”

“My family, we needed to look for a new job and a new house. This country was very difficult... different language and different culture.”

“If I didn’t receive this support my family would be in a homeless situation. I am so grateful to Half the Story. It’s a new opportunity and a change for my life.”
